Our History
At Tabacalera Alfambra, every cigar is a chapter of a story shaped across generations. Our philosophy is rooted in absolute respect for nature's timing: from the careful selection of the seed to the meticulous aging in the curing room.
All of our production is concentrated in Estelí, Nicaragua, one of the most fertile and prestigious tobacco-growing regions in the world. By directly planting most of the tobacco that makes up our blends, we ensure absolute traceability and optimal consistency in the final product.
ESTELÍ · THE PROMISED LAND
The Birth of a Passion
«In the silence of the volcanic earth, the most refined tobacco is born.»
The volcanic soil of Estelí, Nicaragua, was not a random choice. Alejandro Mata understood that the strength, temperament, and nutrients of this land were the only ones capable of giving life to the blend he had imagined. It is here, among volcanoes, where the heart of Alfambra beats.
The Legacy of Eighteen Years
Tabacalera Alfambra is the result of eighteen years of effort, dedication, and the founder's personal passion for creating unique pieces. Every cigar that leaves our curing rooms carries with it respect for artisanal tradition and the promise of an unforgettable experience with every draw.
From Seedbed to Curing Room
We operate under the concept of a boutique premium cigar factory. We maintain a careful and selective production that allows us to be fully integrated into the process, supervising every stage: from the seed in our own Nicaraguan fields to production in our factory in Estelí.
CHRONOLOGY OF EXCELLENCE
The Production Cycle
From the introduction of the seed into Nicaraguan soil until the completion of the product, an estimated period of two and a half years (30 months) passes, structured in five fundamental stages.
01
Seedbed
45 days
The seeds receive rigorous care and constant monitoring until the seedling reaches the necessary strength for transfer.
02
Transplant and Growing
45 – 90 days
The plant is manually transplanted to the field, where it absorbs the characteristic nutrients of Estelí soil.
03
Curing
45 days
After manual harvesting, the leaves lose moisture homogeneously in the traditional tobacco barns.
04
Aging and Fermentation
18 – 24 months
According to the leaf classification (wrapper, binder, or filler), the tobacco matures in the curing room, consolidating aromas and nuances.
05
Artisanal Crafting
Cuban method
Our master rollers strictly apply the traditional Cuban method, an entirely manual process.
